What’s The Deal With CBD Oil?

You may have noticed signs announcing “CBD Sold Here” springing up everywhere from health food stores to gas stations. As part of my ongoing interest in natural health, I have begun trying this derivative of the hemp plant and will share the results of my inquiries and experiments here.

First, a few quick facts:

  • CBD Oil is derived from the Hemp plant, a member of the Cannabis family — yes, Marijuana is in this plant family too, but CBD oil IS NOT MARIJUANA
  • CBD will not make you high. But, some full spectrum CBD oils contain trace amounts of THC, which still will not make you high, but may cause you to fail a drug test. So always know what kind of CBD you are using.
  • CBD and Hemp are not illegal. Hemp has been grown and used all over the world for centuries. It was outlawed for a time in the U.S. not because it’s dangerous, but simply because it was very easy to grow illegal marijuana plants hidden among the hemp.
  • As with any oil, there are different grades, concentrations, and purity levels of CBD oil. Unsurprisingly, the cheaper oils you can get at the gas stations are weaker and diluted with filler ingredients. I have chosen HempWorx CBD oil to try out.

What is Hemp-Derived CBD?

HempWorx products are made from industrial hemp plants grown on Kentucky farms. Cannabidiol (CBD), a constituent that naturally occurs in industrial Hemp, is just one of over 85 cannabinoids that is identified in the cannabis plant. Our oil is CO2 extracted resulting in a solvent free, pure extract.

The History Of Hemp

Hemp has a very vast history that cannot go unnoticed. hemp history
